What To Expect
Start the trip with pickup from your Luang Prabang hotel by your driver and guide. Proceed to your first stop at Luang Prabang's famous Vat Xieng Thong, where you'll admire the temple complex's elaborate walls festooned with gold decoration. Make your second stop of the day at the city's Vat Mai (short for 'Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham'), offering an additional opportunity to admire the beautiful architecture of this Laotian city's unique architecture. After getting a glimpse at Luang Prabang's rich religious heritage, take your excursion to new heights by climbing to the top of Mount Phousi, the town's geographical center and a great lookout spot. Observe the golden stupa that sits at the peak as you soak up the sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Finish your trip at Luang Prabang's National Museum, once the country's royal palace and home to King Sisavangvong in the early 20th century. Explore the museum's collection of personal artifacts from the Lao royal family as well as the Phra Bang Buddha image and throne from the country's Lan Xang Kingdom.
