You MUST confirm and obtain any visa requirements prior to border crossing. All visa requirements are the sole responsibility of the traveler
China Visa: if you fly or take a train to Lhasa from one city of China, you need have your China L Visa in advance.Â
Tibet Group Visa: if you fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu, you don't need China L Visa, but you need apply for your Tibet Group Visa from China Embassy in Kathmandu. Before that, you need the invitation of Tibet Group Visa from Tibet tour supplier.
Please note that you will only be allowed to enter Tibet with a Tibet travel permit. Your local tour operator will help you apply for a Tibet permits (usually need at least 12 days), but be sure you have a passport which is valid for at least 6 months.
A copy of your Tibet travel permit will be sent to you in advance or the original permit will be delivered to you at your place in China.
Travelers are required to provide photocopy of passports and China L visas in advance
