Gazetted a national park in 1991 and declared a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in 1994, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park boasts of the highest population of the endangered mountain gorillas in the world with an estimated number of almost 400 mountain gorillas. This diverse rain forest lying in south western Uganda also hosts 120 mammals, around 350 species of birds including 23 Albertine rift endemics and several other primates including chimpanzees. There are nine habituated Gorilla groups for tourism and one for research with each limited to only eight people per day.Engaging in this activity is not only exiting but also educating as one is able to come to knowing gorillas way of life.
