Get picked up at the airport in Dubrovnik in a shared minivan and head to your hotel. Or, if you're already in town, choose a hotel-to-hotel transfer. Leave your bags and then set off to explore Split's enormous Diocletian Palace with your guide.The largest and oldest city on the Dalmatian Coast, Split emerged as settlement that grew around this magnificent palace complex, built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Your tour starts by exploring the cellars in the UNESCO-listed palace to get a glimpse at what life was like here in the Middle Ages. After exploring the massive underground maze, head back up to ground level to see Peristil Square (the ceremonial entrance court) and the Cathedral of St Domnius.Visit the tiny Temple of Jupiter with its eye-catching frieze and sphinx sculpture from Egypt, and then continue ambling around the palace grounds, seeing other intriguing highlights like the ruins of the Golden Gate.
