The day begins with pickup from your Waikoloa or Kona hotel and an approximately 1.5-hour drive around the island toward Hilo. Stop briefly at KapohoKine Adventures store to pick up any gear, provisions or souvenirs you may want. (Snacks and beverages will also be provided throughout the day.)At the zipline base camp near Hilo, prepare for the action with a safety briefing and slip on a provided hard hat, harness and gloves. When you're ready, fly across an 8-line course that spans a series of tropical river gorges and waterfalls from a height of 160 feet (49 meters). Experience the rush of one of Hawaii's longest ziplines - a monster cable that stretches a heart-pounding 2,400 feet (700 meters) long. Recharge with a picnic lunch before heading toward the Hilo heliport, where you'll climb aboard a comfortable helicopter and slip on a two-way headset to hear your pilot's narration throughout the flight. Soar over Hawaii's pristine rain forest dotted with shimmering cascades, including Rainbow Falls, and get a breathtaking perspective on the craters of Mauna Kea and Kilauea. If you're lucky, you may see puffs of smoke and oozing lava as you fly over Kilauea - one of the world's most active volcanoes. Back on solid ground, travel to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for a tour of lava fields, steam vents and ancient calderas led by a ranger-trained guide. Get a ground-level perspective on Kilauea and Mauna Loa (the largest volcano on Earth) and learn about the Big Island's volcanic history at the Jaggar Museum.
