What To Expect
Meet and greet the tour guide and group in Uptown Charlotte inside the Overstreet Mall. After getting fitted for a bike and helmet, there will be a brief safety orientation before beginning the 90-minute ride around and through Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina.Charlotte is a city filled with beautiful, tree-lined streets. In fact, it has been named "Tree City" for more than 30 consecutive years by the National Arbor Day foundation and it's a top-10 city for urban forests. Its parks are filled with history and the opportunity to enjoy walking, jogging, hiking, biking and horseback riding all year round.During the first part of the tour, stop at the intersection of Trade and Tryon streets, which marks the center of the Queen City and divides its first four wards. Cruise down Levine Avenue for the Arts, home to not only a variety of wonderful shops and restaurants, but also the Levine Center for the Arts, one of Charlotte's key cultural destinations. The Center includes the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, with more than 1,400 works by 20th century modern artists; the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, an epicenter for visual art, theater, film, music, dance and literature, plus arts education programs and community outreach; the John S. and James L. Knight Theater, a 1,150-seat venue for the Charlotte Ballet, Opera Carolina and the Charlotte Symphony and the Mint Museum Uptown, with five stories of American, contemporary and European art. Pedal past the Green, a small, 1.5-acre public park and the Fourth Ward, a thriving Uptown Charlotte community that is part quaint and charming, part urban and contemporary - a mix of restored Victorian homes, luxury condos, urban apartments, parks and businesses.Throughout the tour, the guide will provide ample information about Charlotte's past and present - and maybe even offer some insight into where the city is headed in the future. It's a great introduction to the city of Charlotte and all that it offers its visitors and residents alike. The tour ends back in Uptown Charlotte at the Overstreet Mall.
