What To Expect
Meet your guide in Sharona, or Sarona, a remarkable neighborhood founded in 1871 by German-speaking Templers who grew grapes, oranges and vegetables until the Second World War. Learn the stories of those early German settlers, and see how the district has become one of Tel Aviv's most energetic destinations for entertainment and dining. Stroll down the grandest stretch of Rothschild Boulevard to take in the stunning, UNESCO-listed Bauhaus architecture that earned Tel Aviv its nickname of 'The White City,' passing see the site where the State of Israel was founded. Continue through the colorful neighborhood of Neve Tzedek - this is the perfect place to browse galleries and boutiques, or pause for lunch in a local caf e. Stop by the Suzanne Dellal Center, where modern dancers and choreographers work surrounded by ancient orchards and winding alleyways. Finish the day at Hatachana Complex, the onetime terminus of the Jaffa to Jerusalem train line. The 22 Ottoman-era buildings are filled with shops and galleries, and they're convenient to one of Tel Aviv's most appealing stretches of beach.
