What To Expect
Be ready for convenient pickup at your Oaxaca hotel around 10am. Board a tour vehicle with your guide and group and set off for your first stop: the Tree of Tule, purported to be the widest tree in the world. It is estimated to be between 1,200 and 3,000 years old. The diameter of the trunk is just over 46 feet (14 meters). Continue to Teotitlán del Valle, a Zapotec village known for its handmade wool weavings. Next, head for Mitla, a Zapotec archaeological site that features intricate examples of traditional Zapotec mosaic architecture. The tour's last stop is a mezcal factory, where you can learn about the distilling methods for this traditional liquor, made from the agave plant. After 5 hours of exploring Oaxaca's surrondings and learning about the area's culture, return to the city for drop-off at your original departure point.
