What To Expect

Chart the boat on pier no. 1 (right next to the train station) and discover Central Switzerland at its most beautiful by boat - a classic paddleboat steamer in the summer months - and enjoy a scenic cruise over the sparkling lake. Absorb the wonderful mountain-and-pasture views on route and after around an hour on the water, hop ashore at the pretty village of Vitznau. Board the nearby Vitznau cogwheel train at the pre-arranged time, and enjoy a picturesque, 30-minute ride up Mt Rigi, known as the 'Queen of the Mountains.' Step out at the summit, inhale the pristine mountain air and enjoy ample time to take in the majestic, 360-degree panoramas down across the lake and snow-tipped Alps. When it's time, ride the train back down to Vianitz, and catch the allocated boat departure to the Swiss Museum of Transport on the outskirts of Lucerne. Disembark and walk to the museum's Swiss Chocolate Adventure attraction. Head inside, settle into a fun, traveling chocolate-cube cart and enjoy an exciting, 30-minute sensory and multimedia ride through the world of Swiss chocolate. Learn about the history and stages of chocolate making, enjoy a tasting, and finish at the shop where you'll have the option to make and keep your own chocolate bar.
