What To Expect
Following hotel pickup in Flagstaff, you'll follow State Route 89A, a scenic highway that winds past lava flows at the base of Sunset Crater, Arizona's youngest volcano. Continue by coach to Wupatki National Monument, which features prehistoric dwellings once belonging to ancient pueblo peoples of the southwest.Colorful cliffs of the Painted Desert come into view as you enter the vast Navajo Nation. Your guide makes a stop at the Cameron Trading Post, a historical site dating to 1916. Have lunch in the dining room overlooking the Little Colorado River Gorge and browse for award-winning arts and crafts.Upon entering Grand Canyon National Park, you'll experience the magnificence of the immense gorge, counted among the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. During photo stops at overlooks on the East Rim and South Rim, your guide shares knowledge of the park's geology, natural history, flora, and fauna, and points out any wildlife.During free time at Grand Canyon Village - site of historical lodges, museums, and Kolb Studio - get a glimpse of the Bright Angel Trail and admire more panoramic views of the Grand Canyon before making the journey back to your hotel.
