What To Expect

Meet your group at 9:35am at the Nagano Station's Shinkansen exit and travel by coach bus to the Jigokudani Monkey Park, where you'll arrive at 11am. Take a walk for 30 minutes down a forest trail, arriving at an area where you can observe the famous Japanese macaques that warm up by bathing in the area hot springs. You'll take a break for lunch around 12:15pm at an area restaurant, then head to a ski resort in the Shia-kogen Highlands, arriving around 1:45pm. Known as one of the largest winter resorts in Japan, the area gained further publicity thanks to its hosting role for the 1998 Winter Olympics. Spend a few hours having fun with some of the ski resort's different activities which include snow sledding, snow bikes, and snow scooters. You'll also have time at 4:00pm to ride the ski lift up to its highest point at 5,800-feet (1,900-meters), offering panoramic views of the greater Nagano region. Leave for Nagano Station at 4pm, transferring at Yudanka Station before arriving back at your starting point at 6:30pm. A full itinerary is listed below.Itinerary9:35am- Meet at Nagano station directly opposite of the Shinkansen exit at the information board towards the East Exit. Our guide will be there by 9:20am. You will first visit Snow Monkey area by public transport. Your tour has to get moving by 8:50am, so please don't be late!11am - Welcome to the Snow Monkey area! You will get to Yudanaka from where you will head to the Snow Monkey Park. After a 30 minute walk through a beautiful forest trail you will have arrived at the Snow Monkey Park.11:30am - Arrival to the Snow Monkey Park, enjoy Japanese wild macaques bathing in onsen or frolicking around the park.1:00pm - Have lunch nearby the Snow Monkey Park.1:45pm - Leave the lunch restaurant and go up to the snow-covered mountains of Shiga Kogen.2:30pm-Arrival at the ski resort. After preparations, you can enjoy your time with various snow fun tools to go down the slope and play with fresh snow!4:00pm- Leave the snow fun area and then take a ski lift to go up the mountain. Enjoy viewing a mountainous scenery of Nagano and take some extra photos.4:30pm - The end of the snow activity. Prep for departure.4:45 - Arrival at the Yudanaka Station. A train back to Nagano Station leaves Yudanaka at 5:10pm.6:30pm - Arrive back to Nagano Station.
