What To Expect
Start the day at a centrally-located point in Da Nang city, where you'll meet the guide and go over the day's itinerary. If you're planning to drive a motorbike yourself, bring your Vietnamese license - otherwise, all equipment is provided, including bottled water for the day. Head out of town across the Thuan Phuoc Bridge on your way to the Son Tra Peninsula, a 6-mile (10-km.) drive from the city center, then start the ride up Monkey Mountain. You'll pass a larger-than-life chess board with a pensive Buddha, a millennium-old banyan tree, and viewpoints that look out over Da Nang, then head to Ling Ung Pagoda, home of Vietnam's tallest Buddha statue. Pause for lunch in the beach area of Bai But, and see a private collection of artifacts from around Vietnam at Dong Dinh Museum. Set a leisurely pace on the return trip to Da Nang, with time to stop for photos, then visit a local village known for its distinctive fish sauces and salted fish. This 6-hour tour concludes at the original departure point in Da Nang.
