Bruges sits in northern Belgium, near the North Sea, in the region known as Flanders.Despite the history of war in this area, the medieval center of Bruges is amazingly well-preserved - so much so that the historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Your visit to Bruges begins with a guided walking tour of the charming Medieval center, including ornately decorated buildings, the Saint-Sang Basilica on Place du Bourg, the Beguine Convent, the Gothic City Hall, and the 12th-century Markt Square with its iconic bell tower.After the walking tour, take a brief canal cruise (for summer visits from April to October) to see this charming city from the water, followed by free time to explore Bruges on your own. (Visitors during the rest of the year go straight from the walking tour to leisure time in Bruges.) Take advantage of your free time to see Flemish art museums, shops selling handmade lace, or enticing Belgian chocolate shops.Your tour ends with a ride back to Paris.
