What To Expect
Begin with morning or afternoon pickup at your Medellin hotel, then travel to Pueblito Paisa in a private vehicle with a driver/guide. Get panoramic views of the Medellin valley from the picturesque village, a reproduction of turn of the century Antioquia towns: visit a one rooms school house, an old fashioned rectory and a traditional stone fountain. Continue to 'Barefoot Park' in downtown Medellin to explore zen gardens and bamboo groves, then walk through a forest of shining towers at the 'Park of Lights.' Head to Botero Plaza to see 23 of Fernando Botero's sculptures - local legend has it that rubbing the cast-bronze statues brings good luck and love. Take in a best-of list of Medellin's historic buildings, from the 19th century railroad station to the recently-restored Carr e building, the Basilica, and Saint Ignatius of Loyola Church. See monuments to Colombia's leaders, artists, and poets in the San Pedro Cemetery Museum, where luxurious mausoleums abut public art and narco graves. Throughout the tour, you'll have time to sample local fruits and snacks and sip tropical fruit juice - this tour includes a meal of your choice, and you can select a place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with help from your guide. Finish the day with drop-off at your Medellin hotel.
