What To Expect
Meet a driver at your Phnom Penh hotel for departure shortly before 8am, then travel to the riverside in an open-air Cambodian tuk tuk. Transfer to a riverboat and set out along the Tonle Sap River, cruising as the city skyline gives way to laid-back countryside scenes. You'll see farmers and fisherman at work, and navigate past floating villages, farms, and islands on the river, with lush vegetation at the edge of the water. After roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes of river travel, arrive at Silk Island, named for the local community of silk weavers. Upon arrival at the island, continue on foot to the pagoda, Wat Chong Koh, where you'll find bright statues and beautiful Buddhist architecture. Visit a silk weaver to see how they make silk, from silk worm eggs to finished woven products - if desired, you'll have time to shop for silk handicrafts direct from the producers. Return to the boat for a freshly-prepared Khmer barbecue; your meal includes two drinks, with alcoholic drinks available for purchase from the onboard bar. Begin the return trip along the Tonle Sap River to Phnom Penh, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
