What To Expect
This walking tour through two of Chicago's 'coolest' neighborhoods begins at the former 'Polish Broadway.' Visit a Polish Catholic church and walk around the Noble Square neighborhood, once known as 'Old Polonia.' Also, take a walk through Wicker Park, observing the diversity among its residents as well as huge, 19th-century mansions. Elsewhere, see the massive gears of a bank vault inside what is now a Walgreens Pharmacy; a Mexican restaurant that was once a 1930's hamburger stand; and one of Chicago's last newspaper stands. Along the way, enjoy food tastings at top-rated establishments like Lovely: A Bake Shop, featuring fresh-baked pastries and sandwiches plus specialty coffee drinks; Podhalanka, an old-school neighborhood bar and restaurant serving homestyle Polish fare; and Stan's Donuts and Coffee, serving fresh donuts and gourmet coffee daily.
