What To Expect
After pickup in Glasgow or outside Edinburgh, depending on option selected when booking, your Outlander day tour starts with the drive to your first stop, Doune Castle, used for the Mackenzie home Castle Leoch. Additionally, this castle has been used for Winterfell scenes in Game of Thrones. Continue to Falkland, the scene of Inverness, where you just might expect Caitriona Balfe and Tobias Menzies to walk down the street in their 1940s apparel, followed by a visit to Midhope Castle, used for Lallybroch. This location is a private estate, so access cannot be guaranteed on every tour; if you aren't able to see Midhope Castle, you'll visit Hopetoun House instead. Finally, head to Blackness Castle, used as the site of Fort William and some Wentworth scenes. Throughout your tour, enjoy the scenery of the Scottish countryside and learn a bit about the region's history and culture. Hear a couple of Gaelic sayings, and enjoy the chance to sample a wee dram of Scotch whisky, if you wish. You'll feel just like Claire and Jamie as you're immersed in the world of Outlander, and if you're lucky, you may even have a guide who was an extra on the show, providing insight into the filming, the cast, and the crew.Your tour ends with return to the train station for Edinburgh passengers, followed by return to Glasgow for the final drop-off.
