What To Expect
Begin with pickup in Kuşadasā± or Selçuk: you'll simply meet a driver/guide at your hotel reception or at the cruise port. Get an overview of local history as you drive inland to Ephesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Center with world-class archeological excavations that uncover thousands of years of history. Stop on the way to see the remains of the Temple of Artemis - once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - then continue into the Ephesus archeological site on foot. Follow a route to the top Ephesus landmarks, including the Celsus Library, the Grand Theater, and the Temple of Hadrian, and listen to stories about Ephesus history throughout the tour. Continue to the House of the Virgin Mary and the Church of Mary, where the Council of Ephesus was convened in 431 AD. Refuel from sightseeing with a traditional lunch in a local Turkish restaurant, then visit the Cave of the Seven Sleepers and the Basilica of Saint John, built on the legendary burial site of John the Apostle. This tour concludes with return transfer to Kuşadasā± or Selçuk, and you'll finish the day with a complementary gift bag and a guidebook to the 'Highlights of Turkey'.
