What To Expect
At your preferred departure time you're picked up from your Merida hotel and taken directly to the restored archaeological ruins of Uxmal. Travel aboard a luxury Mercedes Benz vehicle with your personal guide who shares insight into the legends of the Maya city, a UNESCO World Heritage site situated in the Puuc region of the Yucatán.On arrival, pay the entrance fee and follow on foot while you explore ancient structures such as the Governor's Palace, Quadrangle of the Nuns, and Dove's Temple. Marvel at the Pyramid of the Magician (aka Pyramid of the Soothsayer), and learn about the geometrical figures and masks of the pre-Columbian rain god, Chaac, considered by the Maya people to be one of the most important deities.Following your visit, you can purchase lunch at Hacienda Uxmal or dine in the gardens of the Lodge at Uxmal (own expense). You'll have free time to lounge by the swimming pools at either site. If you wish, check out the Choco Story Museum to learn about the history of cocoa, its importance to the Mayas, the way it is cultivated, and the traditional process to make chocolate (admission fee is additional).Conclude the day with return transport to your hotel in Merida.
