What To Expect
Begin your day with pickup from your hotel. Make sure you are carrying your pre-purchased national park ticket (not included). Meet your guide then settle into the air-conditioned minivan to head south. Make your first stop at Ahu Huri A Urenga, a single statue with four hands aligned to the sunrise at winter solstice. Head farther south to the Ahu Vinapu, where skillful engineering suggests contact with the Incas, then to the coastal area of Hanga Poukura, home to rough lava rock formations and several statues mysteriously buried in a line, with only the backs visible.Take a break for lunch (not included), before heading for Rano Raraku. This crater functioned as a kind of factory where most of the island's statues were carved. Since the workers stopped, the hundreds of statues left behind haven't moved. The final stop is Ahu Tongariki, the island's biggest ahu with 15 mighty moais. Your day ends with drop-off back at your hotel.
