What To Expect
Once your ship pulls into the Frenchtown cruise port, make your way to the Frenchtown marina to meet your tour guide and group. Listen to a short safety briefing and basic paddling instruction, then hop into a 2-person kayak and set off toward Hassel island. As you glide out of the bustling marina, get views of the shopping and historic districts of Charlotte Amalie that surround the harbor from your vantage point on the water. Paddle for approximately 20 minutes to your destination. When you reach Garrison House, beach your kayak and climb out. Get your land legs back with a 10-minute walk up a rocky trail to the former British and Danish Fort Willoughby. This structure, built during the Napoleonic wars, is one of the most intact British Naval forts in the Caribbean. Relax there with a snack and take the opportunity to snap some photos of the imposing building.Back in your kayak, paddle into Careening Cove, a site where broken-down ships from Europe were historically repaired. Continue on to the Creque Marine Railway, dating from the 1800s. Stop at a protected beach, where you can relax on the beach, wade in the shallows or go snorkeling. Slip on the provided mask, snorkel and fins and float among the colorful living coral and schools of native tropical fish. At the conclusion of your tour, receive a 1-year membership to the to the non-profit Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park, which includes discounts at some local businesses.Worry-free Shore Excursion:We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to St. Thomas for your ship's departure.
