What To Expect
Your experience kicks off with a 20-minute film intro into the the Soulsville Foundation and the history of Stax Records. Next, you'll have time to explore the museum, where you'll learn about artists like Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding and more. Check out the Soul Train dance floor, which is a replica from the one used in Studio A. You'll enjoy a full-sensory experience with informative exhibits that include overhead audio. Listening stations offer travelers the chance to hear music recorded in the studio. Visitors can spend all the time they want, and self-guided tours typically last about 1.5 hours. The museum is located about three miles from Downtown Memphis and accessible via cab. Parking is available on the campus for travelers arriving by personal vehicle.
