What To Expect
Meet a guide at your hotel in Nairobi for the trip to Kibera; the exact departure time varies, and will be determined after booking. Upon arrival in Kibera, you'll have 2 to 3 hours to walk around, as the guide shares stories about life in the sprawling slum, and about the challenges facing Kibera residents. Stop into an orphanage and school that was built by Mama Tunza, a beloved local activist. Continue to a bead factory to see how residents re-use bones from the butcher shop to create unique beads, and enter a typical Kibera house to learn about daily life in the slum. Make a final stop at Kibera's BioGas center for views across the area, then finish the tour with return transfer to your hotel.
