What To Expect
Make your way to Hong Kong Central to meet a guide and small group for the ferry ride to Lamma Island, where you'll disembark in a sleepy village near the eastern edge. Walk through near-abandoned villages surrounded by banana plantations, which offer a glimpse of a bygone life in the Hong Kong islands. Hike through a Feng Shui forest to a paved coastal path, where you'll find overlooks across the scenic coast. Hike up a hill for views to the South China Sea's shipping lanes, Lantau Island, and Cheung Chau Island. Pass Lamma Island's boulder fields, and reach Sok Kwu Wan village just before midday. Descend into the village along a bamboo path, see the 19th-century Tin Hau temple to a local sea goddess, and visit a waterfront village for lunch (own expense). Take in the atmospheric scene of fishing boats, fishing nets, and platforms, the continue walking down the sandy bay to Yung Shue Wan, a bustling village with narrow streets and colorful shops. Board a ferry for the return trip to Central, where this tour concludes.
