What To Expect
Your small-group tour of Yosemite's highlights begins with pickup in Bass Lake, Fish Camp, El Portal, Mariposa, Coarsegold, Oakhurst, or the greater Fresno area. In a comfortable tour vehicle, your guide will take you into the park through the Southgate, then make your first stop at Chinquapin and Glacier Point for views over the entire Yosemite Valley, Yosemite Falls, and Half Dome. Walk out to the point for more views of the Merced River, Vernal Falls, and the surrounding mountains. If you're interested in hiking, you can hit the 4-mile (6.4-km) downhill trail from Glacier Point to Southside Drive, where you'll meet back up with your guide. Stop by a couple of other sites in the valley on your way to lunch at the Ahwahnee Hotel. If you'd rather not make the hike, you'll drive back to Chinquapin and down into the valley. From the Tunnel View, get glimpses of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Sentinel Bridge, the Chapel, El Capitan, and Bridalveil Falls. End up at the Ahwahnee for lunch. After lunch, explore the meadows facing El Capitan, where you may get views of rock climbers conquering the stone face. Then drive along the Merced River to see the John Muir and President Roosevelt campsites. You'll be dropped off at your original departure point.
