Tijuca Forest Family Hike

Overview
Spend the day exploring Rio's Tijuca Forrest, one of the world's largest urban forests. After a hotel pick-up, your guide takes you on the scenic drive to the rainforest starting with a visit to Taunay Waterfall, the highest of the forest's many falls. Learn about the region's native plants and animals as you hike, and then stop for a swim in the river. Finally, stop at the Chinese View Summit - one of the city's top photo spots with views of Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer. Moderate fitness is required for the 2.8 mile (4.5 km) hike, which has some challenging terrain, and hikers must be able to climb uphill, for a good portion of the journey. Participants are advised to bring a packed lunch and at least 2 liters of water for the day.

  • Visit Taunay Waterfall, the highest falls in Tijuca Forrest at an impressive 115 feet (35 Meters)
  • See the Alcântara Bridge and Mayrink Chappel as you hike through tropical rain forest, and stop for a swim in the river.
